Textorio FAQ
Answers about Textorio's free demo, Windows requirements, factory systems and current Early Access limits.
Is Textorio free?
The Steam demo is free. The paid Early Access game is a separate purchase; check Steam for your current regional price. See the demo guide for installation and feature differences.
What kind of game is it?
Textorio is a PC factory automation game rendered in ASCII and Unicode characters. You gather resources, process materials, move items, generate power, research and maintain a colony, with BASTION and hostile wildlife providing a survival setting.
Is it like Factorio?
It shares the broad mine, process, automate and expand loop. Textorio adds its own text presentation, pressure systems and survival framing. It does not claim identical mechanics or equal scope. Read the comparison with Factorio.
What is finished in Early Access?
The current build focuses on the surface factory game. The caves are its closing scene, and the completed deeper descent remains in development. Research and building availability depend on progression, world-layer requirements and your build version.
What does the demo include?
The demo covers the single-player opening. Its current configuration caps research at tier 2 and locks Factory Wars and Kepler Online. Browsing Orbital rankings is permitted while submissions are restricted. Buying the paid build does not make all planned future content finished.
Does it have multiplayer?
The paid build includes LAN 1v1 Factory Wars and Kepler Online features. These modes are locked in the demo. Online services need connectivity and depend on server availability; do not assume public matchmaking or cooperative campaign play.
What PC do I need?
Check the current Windows requirements on Steam and use the demo to assess your machine. Integrated graphics are listed in the minimum requirements, but performance depends on hardware and workload. The low-end-PC guide provides a practical test checklist.
Can I play offline?
The basic single-player simulation runs locally without a game server. Downloading through Steam and using online modes have separate connection requirements.
How do I start?
Follow the beginner guide: inspect your supplies, smelt plates, bring a transformer-rooted steam grid online, then automate one transfer. Use the power guide when machinery stays dark.
Why is my boiler not working?
Check water and coal first. The current boiler fuel filter accepts coal, rather than every fuel a furnace can burn. Then trace steam delivery to the engine and check the electrical network.
Where do I report a problem?
Use the bug report page. Include your build version, hardware, the steps that trigger the issue, and any helpful screenshots. Back up saves before changing major versions.
Start with the opening factory loop before buying Early Access.
